Making the Switch

Our church media team is in the process of making the switch from Sunday Plus to MediaShout. We are so excited to finally get and use this product! Why did we switch? Well, to be honest SP has never been a stable software on our system. There were numerous glitches that would shut down the program in the middle of the service. SP was compatible with current file formats. Even though it played .mov files, SP wouldn’t read the newer versions of .mov movies. And if we installed a newer version of quicktime, SP would become unstable and would crash (meaning a completely new reinstall of the software). And the unpredictable video playback. Just this past Sunday, we prepped and readied an mpeg to play in SP. But at showtime there was no video only sound…a recurring issue. SP has been reliable for the last 5 years but it’s still the same basic software it was 5 years ago. With 2 years of promised new SP versions (still no new versions) and multiple compatibility issues, we decided to change.

Now, I’m not so naive to think that MediaShout is going to be the answer to every problem we’ve ever had or that it won’t come with it’s own set up problems. I just hope that it will offer us a more stable system and a wider range of capabilities to enhance our worship. Maybe the grass won’t be greener on the other side…hopefully though it will just be better grass.
