Rude Awakenings

Filed under: Teaching.You know it’s going to be an interesting week when one of your 9th grade girls who is wearing a skirt accidentally flashes you as she’s sitting in her desk…trust me, it’s not a sight that I ever wanted to see. She gets escorted to the office for a dress code violation as I explain the finer points of being more lady like. I’m still recovering. The teacher across the hall looks at me and says “Better you than me!”
And then the newly crowned homecoming queen is wearing her crown to school parading up and down the halls. I heard she campaigned for HQ. Who knows?
A teacher friend of mine who is due on Halloween goes into labor yesterday. Hopefully the baby can wait until Wednesday. Keep them in your prayers.
Compared with last week, this week is not as emotional and I hope it stays that way. I’ll take weirdness anyday over sadness.
